Cambodia's economy projected to grow at 6% in 2024: Govt

Cambodia's economy is projected to grow at 6 per cent in 2024 due to slower-than-expected growth in some sectors, a report by the economy and finance ministry said.
The industrial sector was projected to grow at 7.9 per cent this year.

Cambodia's economy is projected to grow at 6 per cent this year—a bit lower than the earlier estimate of 6.6 per cent—due to slower-than-expected growth in some sectors, a mid-year report released recently by the ministry of economy and finance said.

The industrial sector, mainly garments, shoes and travel goods, as well as construction, was projected to grow at 7.9 per cent this year, according to the report.

In the first half (H1) this year, garment exports increased by 16.9 per cent, while its imports by volume increased by 29.8 per cent, the report noted.

Construction is expected to recover at a slow pace of 1.1 per cent, as real estate is projected to grow at 1.2 per cent, domestic media outlets cited the report as saying.
